“Big” Jim, as he is affectionately known has been an integral part of the Canadian sportfishing scene for nearly 30 years and shows no signs of slowing down. Having first gained notoriety as a tournament angler, “Big” Jim was vaulted into the sport fishing spotlight with two CFT Canadian Classics... Canada’s premier tournament title along with a slew of tournament victory’s numbering 28 to his credit.

Following his tournament success, “Big” Jim formed what has become Canada’s largest FREE fishing publication – Just Fishing.  This successful publication is presently entering its 20th year of bringing much needed angling information to Canadian and American anglers alike.

“Big” Jim also spent several years as the host of the Ultimate Fishing Show before moving on to the current phase of his career which includes tournament weigh-in show Emcee, featured speaker at many of the premier sport shows in Canada, as well as outdoor writing, promotional activities, celebrity guiding and just about anything else connected with the fishing industry... including marketing partnerships with several of the largest and most trusted names in the business... and a whole bunch of on the water work.

“Big” Jim was presented with the CSIA (Canadian Sportfishing Industry Association) Chairman’s Award in 2008 for his outstanding contributions and dedication to the growth and participation of recreational fishing in Canada. Also in 2008, “Big” Jim was named as the first recipient of the CPAA (Canadian Professional Anglers Association) Lifetime Member award.

The 2009 Spring Fishing & Boat Show saw “Big” Jim was awarded the Rick Amsbury Hall of Fame Award presented by the Canadian Sportfishing Hall of Fame for going above and beyond the expectations of the angling community.

Then in 2010 BIG JIM was inducted into Canadian Sportfishing Hall of Fame in the ANGLER division which is secretly his favourite…nothing beats recognition from your peirs.

Travelling well over 100 days a year, when “Big” Jim is not working on Just Fishing or teaching a kid to cast he finds time for the family including his beautiful wife of 29 years Tammy, their three children – Michael, Jennifer & Lindsey, granddaughters – Skye, Emerald, Gracelyn & Charlotte, grandson Ronin and Buddy & Dazee the very special Springer Spaniels.

Quaker Boy - Adrian Hare

We are fortunate to have Quaker Boy Pro Staffer Adrian Hare with us again this year. Adrian will help you develop the techniques to land that big spring gobbler. Get some expert advice on calling and bringing in the big toms. See him at his Quaker Boy booth as well.

Adrian J. Hare, of New Lowell, Ontario, Canada, has been a part of the hunting world  such as Quaker Boy Game Calls and Realtree Outdoors for a number of years having the reputation for being a top turkey hunter and guide in the country.  In 1995 Adrian was the first Canadian to complete a Wild Turkey Grand Slam taking all four subspecies in North America.  He also is very successful with big game such as deer, bear, and moose.  Another sport that drives him to the woods in the winter months is predators and success follows him in that field also.  Adrian is a seminar speaker and conducts a number of hunting seminars across north America teaching others the strategies and tactics that has made him successful in the sport.

Being a part of Quaker Boy game calls for 25 year he shows the ability of game call use and the success that has followed that makes him part of the teams he stands up for.  Hare has had a name in the calling competition level in the US and Canada and has won and placed in a large number of calling events.  Adrian has been featured in a number of magazines like Ontario Out of Doors, Outdoor Canada, Turkey and Turkey Hunting and has been a guest speaker a number of times on live radio outdoor shows.  Being a camera man he has also produced a successful learning DVD " Learning The Ropes of Wild Turkey Hunting"

Adrian grew up with trapping and hunting and learned from his grandfather but on the most part was self taught.

This year we have the pleasure of not only having great technical seminars, but a seminar that focuses on boaters safety and awareness. The Britannia- Rideau Power and Sail Squadron will be reviewing Transport Canada requirements that every boater needs to be aware of; including a show of proper life jackets and other life saving products. With boating season approaching, this is a need to see at this years show.

Fly tying demos and the ever popular casting pond and demos are back! There has been a huge swell in flyfising popularity in the past few years...catch the wave and see what the fuss is about.

Lots to learn and get excited about and the right experts to get advice from.

Main Stage Seminars

Environmental education is important to increase our familiarity and understanding of nature, with the hope that we will become inspired to protect, conserve and restore it back to health.

For nearly two decades we have captivated audiences with an array of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, spiders and insects from around the world. It's an exciting opportunity to see these amazing animals in real-life and to learn about their fascinating lives, such as where they live, how they survive, their role in the ecosystem, and what we can do to protect them from going extinct. Our Wildlife Presentation teams are both interesting and dynamic, professionals in their field.

Over the years, we have visited places such as the Ontario Science Centre, Science North, CN Tower and countless schools, libraries, summer camps, Scouting/Guiding functions, church groups, corporate events and resorts. We have appeared on TV shows as The Zone (YTV), TVO-Kids, This is Daniel Cook, Kratts Creatures, Animal Housecalls, Canada AM and the Discovery Channel.
